Carter Finch
Architectural Historian
Carter joined Southern Research in 2021 as an Architectural Historian. He received a B.A. in History from Covenant College and a Masters in Historic Preservation from the University of Georgia. He has four years of experience in architectural history, historicResources that are 50 years old or older. preservation, and cultural resource management in Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida. Carter conducts Historic Resource Surveys in Georgia involving background research, fieldwork, analysis, GNAHRGIS data entry, and report writing. These include projects receiving funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and/or the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. He recently completed a National Register of Historic Places Nomination for an historic NASCAR racetrack in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina and worked on a National Register Nomination for Chocolate Plantation on Sapelo Island, Georgia. He has special interests in historic sporting facilities, primarily historic racetracks, and is currently working on restoring a historic house.
