Who we are
Southern Research, Historic Preservation Consultants, Inc. is a small company located near Columbus, Georgia with broad capabilities in the fields of archaeology, history and architectural history. It might be said that we dwell on the past because most of what we do involves studying the achievements and failures of previous cultures. It is fascinating and important work and we hope present and future generations will benefit from our efforts.
The people at Southern Research make our company what it is today. Southern Research is all about people: the people who make up our company, and the people we study from the past. As individual professionals, we are all drawn to history, prehistory, old buildings, and historic landscapes and are fortunate to be able to pursue what we love. We enjoy working with one another while helping our clients achieve their goals.
As a corporation, Southern Research is serious about business. We carefully manage our projects to insure that our client’s goals, deadlines, and budgets are met. Since its founding, Southern Research has completed nearly 400 historic preservation and cultural resource studies in seven southern states for federal, state, and municipal clients, private foundations, research institutes, universities, and regional development authorities.
The company is a women-owned, small business and is pre-certified with the Georgia DOT for archaeological studies. Southern Research is a founding member of the American Cultural Resource Association and an Associate Member of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia.
